Before their new system, this couple's home was uneven from one end to the other. The master bedroom felt like a meat locker, the guest room closest to the air handler was always the warmest, and the office baked in the morning sun.
After we installed a system designed for their house, every room holds the same temperature. We didn't touch the ductwork. The difference came from choosing the right system and installing it correctly.
They also noticed something else. With the old system they kept the thermostat at 74 and still didn't feel right. Now they set it at 76 and feel cooler, because the system controls humidity along with temperature. Dry air at 76 feels better than damp air at 74, and there are no more swings from room to room. Homeowner: The bedroom was like a meat locker. The two furthest bedrooms we have: the master bedroom on the right side of the house, and one of the smaller guest rooms on the left side. The one on the left side, which was closest to the air handler, was always the warmest. Our bedroom was always a meat locker.
George: Your master bedroom, on the opposite side.
Homeowner: Now everything is even. And where we are now, in the office, which gets the most sun in the morning, everything is just...
George: Perfect temperature throughout the whole house. And we never even touched your ductwork.
Homeowner: No. You didn't even have to touch the ductwork. Nothing. We are very pleased.
George: Totally perfect temperature. And do you feel a difference, not just in the balance of temperature, but in how you feel in the house?
Homeowner: We're two opposite people. She likes it cold, I like it comfortable. Right now we're both in a happy place.
George: So you're both equally happy and comfortable in the house.
Homeowner: Exactly.
George: And we're at 75 and 50% humidity. Actually, you turned it up, right? You had it at 74 and you turned it up to 76.
Homeowner: With the old system we kept everything at 74, and in the wintertime we set it up to 76. Now it's just an even 76, with the humidity working in tandem.
George: So you used to set the old one at 74, and now you set this one at 76, because you feel cooler.
Homeowner: Yeah.
George: And it's consistent. You don't get those swings.
Homeowner: There's no swings. You can walk through the entire house and it feels the same.
