About This Video

This homeowner went more than six months without air conditioning. Every company that came out told her she needed a new unit. One quoted $8,000 to replace it, another $3,500, and she couldn't afford either.

When we looked at it, the problem was the evaporator fan motor. No refrigerant leak, nothing else wrong with the system. We replaced the motor for under $500, and her AC is cooling again.

Not every AC that stops working needs to be replaced. We find out what's actually wrong first, and we tell you straight when a repair is the right answer.

George: Come on, you're on camera now. Say it like you told me before.

Homeowner: I just bless you. You're honest, and you didn't take me like the other companies wanted to. They wanted about $3,500, and you came and fixed it. You're very nice.

George: Tell us about the history. How long have you been without air conditioning?

Homeowner: Over six months.

George: Why six months? And every company that came here, what did they tell you?

Homeowner: That I needed another unit.

George: And all it was is your evaporator fan motor. You can see here, look at your gauges. It's running really good, taking all the heat out. And you don't even have a leak. No refrigerant leak, nothing.
